Dame Antia Roddick founded The Body Shop, an international retailer of personal-care items. They were one of the first to step up against animal testing and provided environmentally conscious products and packaging before we had a collective environmental conscious.
Not only an entrepreneur and environmentalist, Dame Roddick was also an impassioned philanthropist and human rights advocate. She lived her life with passion and a desire to make things better wherever she could.
She died from a brain hemorrhage on September 10, 2007. She was 64.
I think I’ll be reading some of these books http://www.anitaroddick.com/books.php over the coming months. I’ve always been inspired by what Dame Roddick was doing and now I’d like to know more.
Rest in peace, Dame Roddick. Thanks for being a leader.
